The CONSTMACH CPLN-2 planetary concrete mixer is the 2 m³ flagship of the planetary line, intended for high-volume precast and structural concrete production. Its applications, output, installation and servicing are described below.
Where the CPLN-2 Is Used
This capacity is selected by the largest precast and structural concrete producers who need both high volume and uniform quality. Typical applications include:
- Central precast plants producing beams, columns, panels, pipes and large segmental units in high volume
- Structural and high-strength concrete for bridges, tunnels, ports and heavy infrastructure
- Self-compacting concrete production at large batch size requiring uniform dispersion
- High-output decorative and exposed-aggregate lines feeding multiple mould stations
What It Produces
At 2,500 litres of fresh concrete and 2,000 litres compacted per batch, the CPLN-2 delivers the highest planetary output in the range while preserving the thirty-second mixing time and tight consistency of the twin-star action. It homogenises stiff zero-slump and high-performance mixes far more evenly than single shaft or pan mixers, which is essential when feeding large moulds quickly.
Installation and Power
The twin 37 kW motors require a three-phase supply and a control panel sized to start and run both drives, with the highest installed power in the range. The mixer is a heavy unit, mounted in a stationary precast plant or above a batching tower on a structure engineered for the mixer mass and the dynamic load of a full 2 m³ batch. Each oil-bath gearbox should be mounted level with adequate ventilation and the oil level verified at commissioning.
Maintenance and Wear Parts
The reinforced package, 15 mm Hardox 450 floor, 12 mm side plates and 30 mm arm plates, is designed for long service intervals under heavy duty, with the floor laid as individually replaceable tiles and upgrades to Ni-Hard or chromium carbide available for harder aggregates. Both oil-bath gearboxes need scheduled oil checks, the rubber discharge-door seals should be inspected, and where extra doors are fitted each seal and actuator should be serviced. The cover latch and maintenance door safety switch must be tested to confirm they disable start-up when the pan is open.
Comparison With Other Mixer Types
Against a 2 m³ single shaft mixer, the CPLN-2 mixes far more intensely, giving higher strength and cement saving of around 10 to 15 percent at a higher purchase price and installed power. Pan mixers are not built to this scale and remain small-batch tools. The planetary type is the premium choice for high-volume precast, structural and high-strength production, while single shaft mixers stay more economical for bulk general ready-mix.
Operating Considerations
As the largest planetary unit running continuous duty, the CPLN-2 rewards disciplined wear management. Tracking the thickness of the reinforced floor, side and arm liners lets producers schedule replacement during planned stoppages rather than losing peak production to an unplanned failure. Both oil-bath gearboxes and both motors must be included in the servicing programme, and where the optional discharge doors are fitted, each seal and actuator is checked in turn. The intense countercurrent action depends on sound liners, so worn floor tiles should be renewed promptly to maintain mixing efficiency and batch quality. The high-security cover latch disables start-up while the cover is open, ensuring the large pan is entered only when the stars are de-energised.
CONSTMACH can advise on the number of discharge doors, liner specification, layout and spare-part planning to match the CPLN-2 to a specific high-volume precast operation.
