The CONSTMACH CPM-0.5 pan concrete mixer is a 0.5 m³ class machine chosen for its simple structure and ease of maintenance in small-batch work. Its applications, output, installation and servicing are described below.
Where the CPM-0.5 Is Used
The pan mixer is preferred in low-capacity plants and small precast settings where simplicity and low cost are priorities. Typical applications include:
- Low-capacity batching plants serving small contractors and local projects
- Small precast yards producing blocks, kerbs, slabs and modular elements
- Decorative and architectural concrete in small batches
- Laboratory and trial-batch mixing where a simple, easily cleaned mixer is needed
- Workshops requiring an entry-level mixer with minimal maintenance demands
What It Produces
At 625 litres of fresh concrete and 500 litres compacted per batch, the CPM-0.5 produces small batches of plastic and semi-dry concrete with even consistency. The arm-and-scraper action covers the whole pan floor, giving good homogeneity for general and decorative small-batch work, though for the most demanding dry-cast or high-strength mixes a planetary mixer offers more intense mixing.
Installation and Power
The 22 kW drive requires a three-phase supply. The mixer's modular construction allows it to ship within closed truck trailers and standard containers and to be installed in a compact plant footprint. It is normally mounted above the discharge point, so the supporting structure must carry the mixer mass and the load of a full batch.
Maintenance and Wear Parts
The simple structure is a key advantage: the arms, scrapers and discharge area are easy to access for cleaning and inspection. The 25 mm Ni-Hard4 mixing arms and scrapers are chosen for long life and minimal operating cost, with the 10 mm Hardox 450 side plates and 10 mm St 52 bottom replaceable individually. The springs in the central arm fixation table protect the arms from breakage against strong or oversized aggregate. The maintenance door safety switch should be tested regularly to confirm it isolates the drive when the hatch is opened.
Comparison With Other Mixer Types
The pan mixer is simpler and lower in cost than a planetary mixer and is favoured for small-batch precast, decorative and laboratory work. A single shaft mixer of the same class is more economical for bulk general ready-mix, while a planetary mixer gives more intense mixing, higher strength and cement saving for demanding mixes. The CPM-0.5 occupies the entry position where a robust, easily maintained small-batch mixer is the right fit.
Operating Considerations
The CPM-0.5's appeal lies in its low running cost and simple operation, but realising that depends on routine care. The pan should be cleared after each session to prevent concrete setting on the floor and arms, a task made easy by the open structure and accessible discharge. Where coarse or hard aggregate is used, the sprung arm fixation table reduces breakage risk, but operators should still avoid overloading the pan beyond the rated charge. The 22 kW drive draws modest current, so it can run on small generators or limited site supplies, which broadens where the mixer can be deployed.
CONSTMACH can advise on layout, liner specification and spare-part planning to match the CPM-0.5 to a specific low-capacity or precast plant.
